He plunged deeper into the Martian tunnel, boots striking steel as sparks scattered across the walls. Above, spider-machines swarmed, red eyes glowing, limbs clattering as they followed. The air grew thin, pressing on his lungs, every step faster, every drop steeper. Leaping from broken beams, he gripped the stolen core tighter, the secret worth dying for. The swarm shrieked behind, echoing like metal thunder. Ahead, only darkness waited. Downward was survival or a fall into ruin.
